Liverpool 1 supports NSPCC's Childhood Day

LIVERPOOL 1 is continuing its support for the NSPCC's vital work, by highlighting details of the charity's newest fundraising campaign to thousands of visitors and calling on them to take part in the charity's major new fundraising event:- 'Childhood Day.' On 11 June 2021, the 1st national Childhood Day will celebrate the concept of play as an essential part of a happy childhood, vital for a child's mental and emotional wellbeing, and an important way to help children recover from the Pandemic. After the year we have all just had, we could all use a little play and the NSPCC is urging Merseyside residents to support the campaign however they can with a brand new advert being shown on electronic billboards throughout Liverpool 1 until the big day. Whether setting up a sponsored:- football match, card game, gig, dance or online gaming session, every pound raised will go towards helping the NSPCC's practitioners, Childline and Helpline counsellors support children and young people in the City and across the UK as we move out of the Pandemic.

Vickie Butcher, NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager, said:- "The support we've received from Liverpool 1 has been incredible, and we're hugely grateful that they're helping to spread the word about Childhood Day. Our practitioners in Liverpool and across the UK help thousands of children every year, and after everything we've all been through during the Pandemic, we could all do with a bit more play in our lives. That's what Childhood Day is all about; play is a hugely important part of childhood and can massively improve our physical and mental health and wellbeing. However you choose to play, on 11 June 2021, we'd love to see the people of Merseyside play their part in helping us keep children and young people; who have, in many cases, been hidden victims of the Pandemic; safe."

The new promotion coincides with Liverpool 1's support of the NSPCC's #ClassOfCovid19 campaign with the Alder Hey Youth Forum, which saw children across the Liverpool City Region record their experiences of the Pandemic in photos and a video which is also currently playing on the centre's advertising boards.

Donna Howitt, Director at Liverpool 1, said:- "We are proud to support the NSPCC once again on Childhood Day to help raise the profile of their work and awareness of the effects of the Pandemic on the lives of young people. As the long term effects of Covid become more evident, affecting children's mental health and their ability to play, it's vital that they receive the right support and encouragement."

For Volunteers Week, Merseyside's Revitalise announce long awaited return of volunteers to their centre

IN celebration of National Volunteers Week, that runs from 1 June to 7 June 2021, respite care charity Revitalise, based in Southport, Merseyside, are delighted to announce the return of their volunteer programme, which welcomes volunteers from all over the world every year, as the largest residential programme of any UK charity.

Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that the disabled people and carers, at Revitalise Centres, are fully supported and have an unforgettable time, which will be much needed following the hardships disabled people faced during the Pandemic.

Revitalise CEO Jan Tregelles said:- "After such a difficult year, we are really excited to be welcoming back volunteers to our centres. They put their heart and soul into the work they do and our guests tell us that volunteers are vital in making their stay at Revitalise extra special. The return of our volunteers means a break at Revitalise is closer than ever to the fantastic holidays our guests remember and we are here to give a warm welcome, at our centre, should you need a break or change of scenery."

Due to the Pandemic, Revitalise's volunteer programme was on hold in 2020, international travel was heavily restricted, and even local volunteers could not come into the centres under the Government guidance.

One previous volunteer at Revitalise, said of their experience:- "Volunteering with Revitalise has made the most fundamental impact on my life. I 1st visited when I was 17 for the residential part of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. There's a different kind of satisfaction you find through selflessness, that you can't get in other ways."

For 57 years, Revitalise has provided respite care breaks to a huge range of people. These are a vital lifeline to so many unpaid home carers and their disabled family members.
