Santa returns to Formby for December 2020 Tour

THE Rotary Club of Formby are delighted to announce that the famous Carol Wagon ready for Christmas and has been given the all clear. This means Santa will be touring Formby's streets again over December in his famous Carol Wagon. Unfortunately Santa will not be able to stop and talk to individual children as happens in other years, due to Covid19 restrictions, but he will be passing by and waving his greetings. The route Santa will use together with dates and approximate times will be published online here and also on here.

The route is due to start at 6pm, on 4 December 2020, on Alt Road, at The Royal Hotel. The tour of Formby will then run on 6 December, 7 December, 9 December, 11 December, 13 December, 14 December, 16 December, 18 December and finishes on 20 December 2020.  Please remember collectors will not be knocking on doors and families should wave at Santa and his elves from their windows or doorsteps rather than approach the sleigh to keep to the social distancing guidelines.

There will also be a tracking app which will show where the Wagon is at any particular time and his route each day so that you can make sure to wave to Santa as he passes. The app can be down-loaded for free from Google Play for Android or Apple App store for Iphones on the route page.

"Our Santa mail service will also be running so that young people can write to Santa and will get a reply. Their Teachers will collect the letters to Santa and distribute the replies.  Christmas may be a little different this year, but let us all make the most of it. '₤1.50,' plus your networks standard rate message for 1 message." said the Rotary Club of Formby.


Liverpool City Council's Christmas Card Competition

LIVERPOOL'S School children are being invited to get creative and help spread festive cheer throughout the City. Budding young artists aged between 4 and 18 years old are invited to take part in Liverpool City Council's 1st ever Christmas card competition. The winning entries will be selected as the official greetings for the Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, Chief Executive Tony Reeves, and the City's Corporate Christmas Card. The competition runs until Sunday, 6 December 2020, with the winners picked shortly after. 3 winners will be picked in total, one in each of the following categories:-

 4 to 7 years old.

 8 to 11 years old.

 12 to 18 years old.

Mayor Joe Anderson said:- "In our City we are blessed with exceptionally creative youngsters, so this is the perfect way to reward some of that talent; while spreading festive joy after such a tough year. The winning images will be turned into cards myself and the Chief Executive send out, landing in inboxes and doormats around the world, including to the Mayors of Liverpool's Sister Cities around the world. Inspiration could come from Liverpool's famous landmarks, or you could show what Christmas in our city means to you. Good luck to everyone entering, I can't wait to see what you come up with."

All entries need to be A4 sized and submitted by parents / carers or Teachers by scanning or photographing then uploading designs onto the Council's website, where you can also find the full terms and conditions of the competition.
