Letter to the Editor:- "Attending the Miss England 2021 Final"

"I’m Sophie Clarke one of the 2020/2021 Miss Liverpool City Region contestants and a Mezzo-Soprano Singer from Liverpool. Although I did not win through as a contestant in Miss England final I have been contacted by Miss England organisers and have been invited to be the Guest Soloist and perform at the Miss England 2021 Final, I thought I would get in contact to share this news as I am very honoured to be representing our City at such a prestigious event. I will be attending the event alongside finalists Miss Liverpool City Region 2020/2021, Poppy Gerrard and Miss Popularity Liverpool 2021, Chelsea-Lea Stokes. Miss England really focuses on charitable work and since the age of 9, I have been a Guest Soloist at various different charity concerts and events every year. Most prominently I am a Guest Soloist for the British Heart Foundation singing to raise funds for defibrillators to be installed into public spaces such as Schools and Leisure Centres. I’m very fortunate and proud to have been able to support over 35 different charities with my singing. I have also just released my 1st single which is a cover of ‘The Rose’ - the original featured in the 1979 film of the same name. The music video is dedicated to all of our wonderful key workers, it is a slideshow of pictures of various different keyworkers and also performers who have kept entertaining online and outside during these difficult times. My single has been aired on KL Radio and is soon to be played on Access North West and Liverpool Community Radio. The song is available on all Major Music Platforms such as Spotify and iTunes. Recently, I had an interview with Billy Hui at BBC Radio Merseyside discussing my future endeavours, which include winning a Scholarship to study for a Masters of Music in Classical Singing and Opera at the Royal Northern College of Music starting September 2021. Here is my website with more information about me and my work:- SophieClarkeSinger.Co.UK."

Have you had a Covid19 Vaccination?

IF you have had a Covid19 Vaccine, please remember you could still be infectious to others, if you get the Virus and don’t have symptoms. Sadly, we are hearing growing reports of elderly people in Southport, not following social distancing within shops in Southport. Our Editor has been told that there is a growing number of people not following the 2 metre rule and saying they have been vaccinated, so can’t catch it, when challenged. We also witnessed this, when a security guard stopped a chap who pushed into a queue, by going straight to the till and loading up, as another customer paid. The customer complained, as well as the person in the queue, who had not seen, as she was standing on the distance marker. It might be frustrating, but please remember to keep socially distanced, as we still do not know if the vaccine stays infectious in vaccinated people or not. Also most people have, as yet, only had the first dose and await the second, so have perhaps only 30% cover, and there can be no certainty at present, as the efficacy will only be known well into the future. Meanwhile, our best outcome depends upon everyone using their common sense, treat every situation with due caution, keep your distance from others, wash your hands and use hand sanitiser and use a mask. Sacrificing our freedoms is irksome and we may feel we are losing our chances to do things, but we have endured so far unlike others, so let’s resolve to continue to play our part in keeping the virus at bay.
