Southport's Magic!
Article by Eric Lyon-Taylor.

The Northern Magic Circle is coming to town.  I have been invited to attend and cover the event that was held at the Prince of Wales hotel on the 29th of March till the 1st of April.  This was a magical extravaganza, ranging from simple card tricks to full escapology, and includes a young man skipping on a uni-cycle.

Friday afternoon and night was the meet and greet and opening of the event, finishing with the President's choice show at 9.30pm.  This was spectacular and left me wondering how half the trick were done.

Saturday started with dealers demonstrations and then went into lectures which lasted till 2.00pm, then the young magicians were given the floor till 3.30pm, this gave me hope for the future of magic in Britain as some of these young magicians were as good as the pro's and had some interesting new ideas. Then at 6.45pm the masterclass started, this meant very little to me but I did learn some of the Inner Circles secrets.  Finally to finish the night off starting at 8pm the Gala show which was open to the public, again this was spectacular, the combination of dancing and magic was splendid and very well done.

I didn't bother much with early Sunday morning which was taken up with the morning service, magic and religion interesting, and the AGM for the Northern Magic circle.  I rejoined the event at 10.30am for the My Life with Comedy Hats and Flowers which was amusing.  Then caught up in work I missed most of the rest of the afternoon, but managed to catch the Junior stage competition which again proved to be of a very high standard.  Awards were given out in the evening in the ballroom along with a banquet but I couldn't make it.

I missed Monday but then it was all in house ceremonies such as the change of office and the handing over of the chain of office.
