Film review:- xXx

I went to see this movie, we all thought it would be fun and a new fresh approach to the 007 styles and the Mission Impossible stories, but Rich Wilkes has written, alas, a copy and just misses the mark. Vin Diesel stars as Xander Cage, who is an extreme sports man who likes to take extreme sports to another level. After foolishly doing a silly stunt which involved stealing a car and jumping off a bridge, he is then forced into the CIA by the government and sent on a special mission. This film has all the hallmarks of 007, but without the British something that makes the Bond films special. At the end it even has a Bond intro, with a girl dancing with a gun. But by the time that comes on most people have left the cinema. Mind you, the effects are first-class, and it has a lot of American Action Hero Style to it. I cannot say much about the plot other than it is good if you have never seen a 007 film. The sets are nice, but the boat looks like a reject from Captain Nemo or Stingray. Sorry, only 2 out of 5. Fun, but not that much so. xXx 2 Production aims to start in mid-late 2003 with a late 2004 release, but I dread to think what this will look like.
