Happy St Patrick's Day in Southport

THIS year's St Patrick's Day was whiter rather than green at times, but the warm atmosphere and welcome of Southport's only real Irish Pub, O'Learys, on Cable Street was still a big draw; so too was the fact the Six Nations, Ireland v England, was being shown, live, on the Television. As the scores rolled on throughout the day; the match became even more thrilling, as people watched the Irish rugby team overturn England 15 to 24, at Twickenham Stadium, to seal their historic 3rd grand slam result. Even if you did not enjoy the rugby, surely, with the elements sending a bitter chill though your bones outside, by contrast inside it was jokes, warmth, great crait and later, with just a nice cold Guinness to wash it all down... These are a few photographs of our traditional attendance at this local venue, on St Patrick's Day and we are definitely looking forward to next years... Let's see if we get Green Snow next year, well if Chicago can transform its river into a bright emerald green in honour of St Patrick's Day, why can't we have green snow or a Green River Mersey or Marine Lake? Let us know what you did for St. Patrick's Day via emailing us to:- News24@SouthportReporter.com and did you celebrate St David's Day, on 1st March? Are you celebrating St. Georges Day or St David's this year? If yes, please do let us know was well.
