Letters to the Editor:- "Former Miss Liverpool City Region in Sri Lanka along with the other Miss England award winners"
Photographs by Graham Stone.

"I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to travel to Sri Lanka, at the start of June 2018, along with the other Miss England award winners courtesy of Premier Ceylon Tourism. Back in July I competed at the finals of Miss England, representing Liverpool, as the Miss Liverpool City Region title holder. At the finals I was placed in the Top 20 and won an award sponsored by 'Billion Dollar Smile.' The trip was part of my new title:- 'Miss Billion Dollar Smile' and was an incredible experience. The trip took myself and the other award winners travelled out to visit the country and find out more about it, as a social, economic and tourist hub. During our visit we stayed at the Ozo, in Colombo and the Amari Galle Hotel, in Galle and experienced the most incredible hospitality. Due to recent weather patterns Sri Lanka has experienced drastic rainfall which has resulted in many people being affected by flooding. Due to this; myself and the rest of the Miss England team took it upon ourselves to try and help. We did this by packing relief bags that included food and emergency necessities to send out to those affected. We visited an orphanage which was incredibly humbling. Although it was extremely sad to visit, it was an honour to be able to see how well cared for the children where within the facilities. This was a highlight of the trip for me, as I have previously worked with children in India, Malawi and China, to help give them an education and a home due to natural disasters. We also visited a turtle sanctuary during our time in Sri Lanka and walked in a fashion show, at Ballys Casino. The Miss England organisation plans to continue to work in raising money for the orphanage and relief teams as the Miss World charity, 'Beauty With A Purpose' stands for making a difference with children's charities world wide. For myself, it was such an honour to be able to represent Liverpool and the Cities Region in such an incredible trip; and I hope to continue working with 'Beauty With A Purpose' as I continue my Miss England Journey, this year, starting with the Semi-Finals in July, as:- 'Miss Billion Dollar Smile.' To vote for me in the Semi Finals please text:- 'MISS SF18' to 63333." Ellie Wilson.
