Woodvale Rally 2018 Coverage - Part 1
Photos on this page by Patrick Trollope

THIS is part 1 of our coverage of this year's Woodvale Rally, that was run over 16 June to 17 June 2018. Sadly a few problems, out of the control of the Rally did affect Saturday, their biggest being the weather. Saturday was mostly extremely heavy rain, along with a strong wind, making exhibitors dive for cover and preventing some of the attractions from operating. But oddly, the weather did clear up, but only just before close. This weather and a brake down did not stop Ashley Charlton and her and her Cosplay friends from attending... Adding a bit more fun to the event. It also did not put of the Mayor of Sefton, Councillor Dave Robinson, who walked all over the show ground and even stopped to her the headline act, on the main stage, The Quarrymen...

Sadly, on Saturday the Morris Dancing had to be cancelled at short notice due to the death of the group's organizer Reva Gray, from REMA Morris Dancing Organisation. As a result, Woodvale Rally deasicated the day to her memory, as her memorial was being held Knowsley Leisure on the same day. The Morris Dancing did return on the Sunday, but far more low key, in respect. Woodvale Rally said:- "We would like to say that Reva Gray, from REMA Morris Dancing Organisation, will be missed by us all. He group has been attending now for a long time and it had become and part of the show. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends over this very sad time..."

Saturday was not a total wash out, as many of the attractions did take place, including free dawning classes from Tim Quinn, who is know for being a former editor for publishers DC Thomson and IPC before moving over to Marvel.

He has also worked doing items for BBC's Dr Who and many other comic books and projects over the years. He was also selling his new comic, called the FAB 4000, that is aimed at raising funds for Liverpool Heartbeat. The Liverpool Heartbeat charity, if you don't already know, was set up to help inspiring young people in the North West and Merseyside, to pursue:- healthy, exciting, fulfilled life styles since its formation in 2002.

Tim Quinn also returned on Sunday. Also attending both days was the 8 year old singer Astrid, from The Voice Kids UK and you can see her performing at the show on our VAMPHire.com Facebook Page.

Also attending on Sunday was Jennifer Amy Leigh, who is Miss Southport 2018. She even put on chain mail to visit the normal encampment! If you did not find them, the Historia Normannis, Southport, put on a fantastic display over both Saturday and Sunday.

Also attending was local media personality Jonathan Thompson who was exhibiting his vehicle with local based UK Hot Cars.

Thankfully the weather improved for most of Sunday, but sadly it ended again with rain...

If you did not get a chance to go this year, keep an eye on the Woodvale Rally website to find out what is planned in 2019...
