Southport's BMFC 2018
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

THE British Musical Firework Championship (BMFC) was held yet again on Victoria Park, Southport, on 28 September to 30 September 2018. This pyromusical event deficiently ignites the imagination of those attending it. This years displays where fantastic, but sadly as with all outdoor events, not all goes to plan, as Sunday night was affected by the weather conditions. Sefton Council said:- "During the 1st display of the evening, we made the decision to stop the display and cancel the event. The safety of our customers was and always will be our priority. Our competition clerk felt that with the change in wind direction and wind speed, the conditions were no longer suitable to carry on with the competition. We would like to say a huge thank you to Sunday night’s competitors:- Rainbow Fireworks and Distant Thunder Fireworks, and also to the other 5 competitors, who had fired over the previous 2 nights, delivering an outstanding show. We will post details of how to obtain a refund, on the website, as soon as possible. We would like to thank all affected for your understanding."

The top 3 teams of the BMFC 2018 are as follows:-

1st Place - Illusion Fireworks Ltd (3rd to fire on Saturday)

2nd Place - Blitz Fireworks (1st to fire on Saturday)

3d Place - Phenomenal Fireworks Ltd (2nd to fire on Friday)

Also for the very 1st time in history of the competition, an innovation award was given to Illusion Fireworks Ltd, for the creativity shown during their display.
