Strictly Nugent 2018 launched

LIVERPOOL based Charity Nugent, launches its ⅓ annual dance competition and gala fundraiser, Strictly Nugent 2018, which takes place in St George's Hall, on 27 October 2018.

The hosts for this year's glamorous ballroom competition are Ben Osu and Helen Jones. Helen is BBC Radio Merseyside's Sunday morning presenter and producer and Ben is is a local presenter and compere, and has hosted some of the City's major events including LIMF, the River Festival, Brazilica and more.

Helen and Ben will be introducing the show which gives 12 people the chance to dance live in St George's Hall with their professional dance partner to win the coveted Judges Award! All our dancers are busy training with their professional partners on their routines and will be competing together on the night in front of our audience and our panel of Judges, for the coveted Judges and Audience Winner's Trophies.

Strictly Nugent 2017 threw up a big surprise, with 1 couple winning both the Judges' trophy and The Audience's trophy!

Amateur dancer Frances Molloy and her dance coach Ben Cosgrove performed a beautiful Viennese Waltz to a tune written by France's son. Frances said:- "This was an amazing experience, I am overwhelmed by the support I've had and to be joint Winner is fabulous."

Now in its 3rd year, Nugent's signature fundraising event has raised over ₤90,000 in the last 2 years to help vulnerable children and families living with poverty, this year aims higher than ever to raise vital funds to support Nugent's work.

Normandie Wragg Nugent's CEO said:- "Last year, Liverpool Town Hall was buzzing with excitement, the atmosphere was electric. This year St George's Hall will make the night even more spectacular and help raise even more money to support our work."

Paul Evans, Owner of Evans MOT Centre in Huyton.

Wendy Ewbank, Financial Director, Commercial Contract Engineers Ltd,

Jane Caven, Managing Director, Sagegreen HR Cumbria and Lancashire,

Father Conor Stainton-Polland, Parish priest of St. Matthew's and St. Cecilia's parishes in Liverpool,

Ashleigh Evans, Currently training to be a teacher and starting her own business.

Roll the dice and dance the night away on the world famous Mersey Ferry

MERSEY Ferries announces a new 'Vegas Casino Night Cruise' with onboard cashless casino and live music from Rat Pack tribute act. Mersey Ferries' is pleased to announce the launch of a new Las Vegas themed cruise, which will sail the River Mersey on Thursday, 18 October 2018.

The Vegas Casino Night Cruise features live music from a talented local artist and an onboard casino which uses a 'special Mersey Ferries currency,' so passengers can enjoy a flutter on the games whilst taking in the spectacular views of Liverpool's UNESCO World Heritage waterfront.

Passengers are invited to dress to impress and walk the red carpet on arrival, before they take their chances on the Roulette and Black Jack tables.

Guest will also have the opportunity to dance the night away to classic Rat Pack hits from Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin. And with a selection of fantastic prizes to be won on the night, all the fun of Vegas will be brought to life on the River Mersey.

Tickets are priced at ₤14.95 for the 2½ hour cruise, which features a fully licensed paid bar and departs from Seacombe at 7.20pm and at 7.30pm from Pier Head on Thursday, 18 October 2018.

The Vegas Casino Night Cruise is part of Mersey Ferries' most diverse events programme, helping the City of Liverpool celebrate 10 years since being named European Capital of Culture.
