Walking to save hair
Report and audio interview by Laura Wright.  Photos Guy Aubertin Photography.

FOLLOWING on from the report, back in October 2018, about scalp coolers and walk the walk charity we conducted 2 phone interviews with representatives of the charity to find out more about the charity and also scalp coolers. Walk the Walk is best known for its famous:- 'Moon Walks,' when walkers take on marathon challenges in London, Edinburgh and Iceland at Midnight wearing brightly decorated bras.

In these interviews we learn more about the charity and also how they affect the lives of cancer patients as well as getting more information about the Scalp Coolers that are provided by Walk the Walk. If you don't already know, Scalp Coolers are amazing machines that can help to prevent or reduce hair loss for people undergoing certain types of chemotherapy treatment. These treatments are currently provided within 247 Hospitals across the country, including to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Wirral. The grants provided over the past 12 years by Walk the Walk have resulted in the provision of 625 machines. We also learn that Walk the Walk is committed to removing the postcode lottery and offering more and more people the choice of using the machines. To hear the interviews with both Sally Orr, who is Walk the Walk's PR and Marketing Director, along with Samantha McGimpsey, who is a Breast Cancer patient supported by the charity click below...
