Fake emails - Warning to small businesses

FAKE warnings are being sent out to small businesses all over the North West of England informing them that their websites are about to expire and that they have to send a payment, via PayPal to them, or their service will be stopped.  This scam in the past has been less direct, often taking you to a website that is made to look like it is your website service provider, but this is in fact a direct payment link to a PayPal account.  We have contacted PayPal to alert them about this issue and awaiting a reply from them. If you have sent a payment via an email like this, contact your bank and PayPal. Also contact Action Fraud, via calling:- 0300 123 2040 or via their online reporting service. If you receive an email like this, send it to City of London Police's National Fraud Intelligence Bureau via forwarding the emailing to:- Phishing@CityOfLondon.Police.UK.  In this case the email, that displays as being from email @ hostserver04 . com . br says:-

What is also interesting is that both this email reportedly comes from a firm that displays itself as in Rochester, USA, as to does a email that has a .jpg attached that says you have been hacked and demands payment. See below image:-

Remember if you get these or any other fake emails, don't follow the links or open them. Just forward them to Action Fraud and delete them. Also definitely do not open any attachments on these emails!

Letter to the Editor:- "Application to Sefton MBC for a Premises, Entertainment and Alcohol Licence at Orrell Hill Lane. Hightown."

IN our 9 March 2019 Edition we ran 2 'Letters to Editor' about an application to Sefton Council about an application for a premises licence, for both an entertainment and an alcohol licence, at Orrell Hill Lane. Hightown. We have since had another update letter on this subject.

"Dear Editor... Residents of Hightown and Ince (Blundell) are furiously opposed to the application made for a 12 hours a day, 365 days a year licence for open air entertainment and alcohol sales, for 5000 people in a field behind the now closed Red Squirrel Restaurant. Many residents are intending to attend the meeting of the Licensing Committee, at 10am, on Monday, 1 April 2019, and are hoping the Committee will listen to their objections. They are concerned about prolonged periods of loud music, and that organisations that are said to be associated with this application have allegedly a poor record of marshalling and crowd control. This is adding to the fears of residents of local housing areas, especially in the quiet village of Ince; ¼ of a mile away from this site... Also questions are now being asked about the effect on nearby bat populations within the area. Local feeling is running so high that a coach has been organised to enable any residents of this village who do not drive to attend this meeting. They hope the April Fools at this meeting will be the proposers who want to stage such events in a rural setting close to quiet residential areas. Although it is said that coach transport will be provided it is feared that this will not be sufficient at the close to prevent revellers walking away on unlit country roads without footpaths. They are bitter that the only publication of these proposed major open air events was a few A4 notices stuck on a gate and hedges on a country road with no pedestrian path, and where motorists passing them would be concentrated on the major traffic lights just ahead, and unable to stop to read them without reducing the road to 1 way traffic. No notices were sent out to residents in Ince or Hightown. They hope everyone who believe they maybe affected by "rave" events, or object to the sighting of such events at the proposed venue, will attend the meeting." Full Name and address supplied, but withheld on request.

Call to arms at Brick Craft Southport

ON our 24 March 2019 the Brick Craft, who are located within Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, Southport, held a a call to arms for those interested in playing fantasy table top games, by holding a Warhammer workshop. Ever since Games Workshop, closed in Southport, the Town has not had an official supplier of Games Workshop games, until now. The shop is now the Towns official stockist and they hope to offer more workshops, for all ages, to those interested in this series of successful fantasy games. They will also be giving classes on how to paint your tabletop miniatures along with providing game play opportunities, so watch this space...
