The Scotch Piper Car Club have you been to it?
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

WITHIN the grounds of the The Scotch Piper the oldest pub in both historic Lancashire and within Merseyside, dating back to 1320, on offer are a range of very interesting weekly events (Mondays), including a Vintage, Classic and Sports Car Meet... We popped over on a very sunny evening to take a look at the Car event, on 6 May 2019. Under blue skies, you can easily see why the Car Club, now celebrating its 5th Anniversary, has just been awarded a place in the Top 10 Britain's Best Classic Car Club Events by the Classic Cars Magazine.

This meet, held every Monday, between 6pm to 9.30pm attracting some exceptionally interesting cars and as we also found out, it's extremely friendly and very interesting. The club's members, when they are not outside looking at the cars, can be fond inside this charming thatched roof pub. we are told that members are well known for talking about everything from local news to going over restoration tips and even planning outings to other clubs and events.

If you like classic cars or sports cars, do head on over to this very unusual event, as they will very quickly make you part of their community.  Not only that, but the pub has a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks, plus if you can't go on Mondays, you might be interested to know that the Club meets every 3rd Sunday, from 12.30pm, at the pub, as well. Don't worry if you're a 2 wheel fan, we might not have covered it as yet, but the venue also holds Bikers' events, every Wednesday, and we are told that this is also just as popular.

These are a few photographs we took on that night. If you attend this event, please do let us know what you think of it via emailing us to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com.

It is worth adding that the Lydiate Classic Car and Bike Show will be held this year on 7 July 2019, from 10am to 4pm, at the Scotch Piper Inn, on Southport Road, Lydiate, L31 4EQ. We are told that all proceeds going to NWCR (North West Cancer Research) and for more information about the event, please go to the Facebook Group Page or email the event organisers via:- ClassicCar@Cheerful.Com.
