Merseyrail puts on additional early morning trains for Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

MERSEYRAIL has confirmed that it will be putting on early morning trains for runners taking part in the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. The race, which takes place over Saturday, 25 May and Sunday, 26 May 2019, sees thousands of people fill the streets of Liverpool where rock laid its roots. In previous years, Merseyrail has run a normal service, but due to the early start of the Marathon and upon receiving feedback from passengers, the rail operator has confirmed that earlier trains will run.

The additional services are as follows, on Sunday, 26 May 2019:-

06:53 runs from New Brighton.

► 06:59 runs  from Hooton.

► 07:01 runs  from West Kirby.

► 07:06 runs  from Hunts Cross

► 07:07 runs  from Ormskirk.

► 07:08 runs  from Southport.

► 07:13 runs  from Kirkby.

Andy Heath, Managing Director for Merseyrail, said:- "The Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon is a fantastic and hugely popular day in the Liverpool City Region's calendar, and we want to make it as easy as possible for runners and spectators to attend. These early trains will get our passengers into the City Centre from across the Region with plenty of time to prepare and focus on the race ahead. Best of luck to all taking part; Merseyrail are rooting for you!"

Theresa May is stepping aside
Archive photo with thanks to:- VAMPHire.com.

AFTER 3 years as the Conservative Party's Leader, Britain's 2nd female Prime Minister, Theresa May, has announced that she will be stepping aside. After a turbulent time leading the UK she announced her resignation outside Downing Street's Number 10, on Friday, 24 May 2019. She commented that she will leave:- "with no ill will, but with enormous and enduring gratitude to have had the opportunity to serve the country I love," in what was an emotional speech. The former Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, is the front runner to be Britain's next Prime Minister, should he win the leadership contest, which is now due to start on 7 June 2019, and is expected to last 6 weeks. What this will mean for BREXIT is now even more of an unknown. We would love to know your views on this, so please do send your thoughts to us via email:-  News24@SouthportReporter.Com.
