Southport Armed Forces Day 2019
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

AS part of the UK Armed Forces Day events, Southport held a Drumhead Service, honouring Britain's Armed Forces, both past and present, as well as future, on Sunday, 30 June 2019. The event was held on the Princess Diana Memorial Gardens, on Southport's historic Lord Street, next to the Town Hall. The event also included a Military Parade, that went from Chapel Street, via both Hoghton Street and Hill Street, ending with a salute at the Town Hall steps, on Lord Street. Other activities on the day included performances from:- The George Formby Society, Southport Sea Cadets Band, the Ukulele Minstrels, United Voice Choir, plus an amazing performance by the Voice of Liverpool, Danielle Thomas. Not only that, but also a host of military vehicles were on display, both past and present. Sadly, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Dakota, which was due to do a fly past, had to turn back to the airfield after take off, so it was unable to take part. The organisers of the event added that they would like to thank all the sponsors and supporters of the event, especially Southport Lyric Singers and the Southport Freemasons.
