Orange Lodge 12 July 2019 Parade in Southport
Photos via VAMPhire.com.

ON 12 July 2019, the Liverpool Provincial Grand Orange Lodge held its annual Parade, in Southport. The annual parade marks a major turning point in Irish history, William of Orange's crushing victory over James II, at the Battle of the Boyne, on 12 July 1690. This battle has symbolic significance and it is often commemorated by Irish Unionist and Irish Protestant communities. The Parades mostly take place within Northern Ireland, but there are Irish communities in other parts of the world, who share a great deal of cultural links with Ireland; they also hold Parades. Liverpool and Glasgow are 2 good examples of that. In recent years, most marches have passed peacefully, however they have quite often proved flashpoints in the year's of the Troubles. We will bring you more photos in next week's issue, but these here, are a few of the photos we took on Friday, 12 July 2019, in Southport. Pease do tell us your thoughts on this annual event, via emailing us to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com and  let us know what you think about the Southport event being held each year.
