Rwanda Youth Choir
- On Sunday, St Luke's Church in
Formby played host to the Rwanda Children's and Youth Choir,
while they visited the UK. The choir nearly missed the event after the British
Embassy in Rwanda would not issue visas
for them to travel to the UK. This was eventually sorted out
and the Choir came.
Before the night started the
organizers headed by Allen Hobson had a hotpot supper with the choir (Top
right, sitting with the Shyira Bishop.
-
- The idea of the Choirs visit to
Formby was to thank St. Luke's church for raising funds to re-build
their hospital in Shyira and for sending a team earlier on in the
year to them. (see back dated articles for info.)

- Choir, made up of Tutsi and
Hooto is designed to build a bond between the two tribes and
to stop the greenside from ever happening again. The UK tour
was part of that re-building program, taking them to Ireland,
Formby, Birmingham and the New Forest.
-
- The evening was only a one off, but
it raised valuable funds for them to put towards re-building the
hospital.
The next day they went to
St. Luke's School in Formby, to thank our MP and other Government
ministers and to tell the children of St. Luke's School what being from
Rwanda is like.
St. Luke's Church is still
after donations of Equipment and money, ring Prof. Allan Hobson on 01704
875118 for more information.
