The BTR Liverpool - Santa Dash 2021

ON Sunday, 5 December 2021 the annual BTR Liverpool Santa Dash returned following the cancelation last year due to Covid19 Restrictions.  This amazing festive event is hugely anticipated by tourists and locals alike. It also raises huge amounts of cash for local charities, and not just for the main event charity.  This years named charity was Alder Hey Children's Hospital, who have seen a huge hit in funding, due to the cancelation of fundraising activities, due to Covid19.

If you never been to the Santa Dash, it is definitely worth adding to your must see list for 2022, even if you are not running in it!  The event is split into 2 races, with the kids fun run following on from the main, longer run. This annual event the biggest and longest established Santa Run within the UK and still a very close 2nd place for the title:- "Biggest Biggest Santa Gathering in the World." A title it achieved in its 2nd year, but lost to Las Vogues the following year.

This years main run took place at the iconic The 3Graces, then passing through the Royal Albert Dock and back along the main waterfront roads before turning into the tightly packed streets to finish in front of Liverpool's historic Town Hall, in a flurry of snow right on the finish line!  The kids run set off from the Town Hall, around the streets in the City Centre and then back to the same finish line outside the Town Hall.

Sadly, due to Covid19, the number of people taking part was far smaller than in other years, and also Father Christmas was unable to attend.

Representing the Hospital on the start line was a young patient from Warrington, Betty, aged 4. She was the guest of honour and officially started the Santa Dash, on stage, along with her Mum and sister. Not only that but her Dad and brother also took part. Along with Betty, also on the stage was Alder Hey Charity Champion LFC’s Jamie Carragher. They then both headed over to the finish line's on stage to watch the runners cross the line, along with some giant Christmas characters.
