Formby Branch of The Royal British Legion's Remembrance Sunday Parade 2022

WE have put within this edition the footage and some photos of the Armistice Day Service and Remembrance Survive at Formby's Our Lady of Compassion Polish Squadrons War Graves, shot on 11 November 2022, plus the 2 Parades that took place on Remembrance Sunday, on 13 November 2022.

The full Armistice Day Service was filmed by us at Formby's War Memorial, including the 2 min silence, on 11 November 2022. This footage shows what took place at the event, which was of extra significance to the local branch of the Formby Royal British Legion, as it was they marked the 100th year of its Founding.

The next Remembrance event we attended was the Remembrance Service at Formby's Our Lady of Compassion Polish Squadrons War Graves, 11 November 2022. This is annual the Remembrance Service that is held next to their war graves, held after the Armistice Day Service, which is held at the Village War Memorial, which is also held yearly on 11 November.

Then on 2022 we filmed the Formby Royal British Legion's Parades. The 1st Parade set off in the late afternoon from the Guild Hall, Formby, and headed to Holy Trinity Church, through the Village Centre. As it headed along the short route it passed the Village War Memorial, which was constructed 100 years ago and unveiled on Sunday, 12 November 1922. After the 1st parade, had terminated at Holy Trinity Church, a Service of Remembrance was held. The Parade then retuned back to the Guild Hall.

After the Service, the groups reformed and marched back to the Guild Hall. Helping to mark the end of the Formby Branch of The Royal British Legion's 100th Anniversary, the 2nd Remembrance Sunday Parade was also attended by both the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mr. Mark Blundell, and the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Lesley Martin-Wright JP D, who took the salute at the War Memorial, along with other local officials and representatives of the armed forces. They had also attended the Service beforehand. You can see this part of the 2nd parade within the last part of the footage. This was an extremely high honour for the Branch to receive on Remembrance Sunday.
