Southport Charity Vehicle Christmas Light Parade 2023

DESPITE the weather around the UK the biggest Charity Vehicle Christmas Light Parade within the North West still took place, on 3 December 2023. Sadly, due to the extreme weather conditions on other parts of the UK, this years Parade has less vehicles than planned, but what it liked in numbers, it made up in quality. This was a fantastic effort and all the vehicles on display did their best to put on what was still the biggest show of its type in the North West Region. Normally the convoy slowly makes its way along the Southport area from Pontins, but this year the event took place in reverse, after setting of from the Southport Eco Centre.

The event not only raise cash and collect toys along the way, but aimed to spread to Christmas magical to the people of Southport, and from the reaction to the kids that cam out to watch, this objective was also met. This year the event also travelled far faster than normal, due to concerns that it might hold back to traffic for to long. But this was not the case and it whizzed passed without any issues. We think this was also better as the cold temperatures and the damp meant waiting around was far harder than in previous years.

Sadly, this might be the very last annual:- 'Southport Christmas Light Vehicle Parade' as they are finding it hard to find people willing to organise it for 2024. If you can help the event, please get in contact with us and we will forward your contact information on to the Parade Organisers.

Well done to all who took part in this years event. The video is a quick bit of footage taken at the start and at Ainsdale Village, and at the very end of the event.   Let us know your thoughts on this event by sending us an email to our Newsroom at:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com or send us a message on:-  Mastodon, Facebook or Twitter
