Hooters Supervisor Annie Ousalice has become UK's 1st licensed female boxing MC!

A 21 year old Supervisor from Hooters Liverpool has become the UK's 1st licensed female boxing MC! Annie Ousalice, from:- St Helens, has gone from serving wings to commanding rings after being talent scouted at the Liverpool restaurant; having passed her British Boxing Board Of Control exam 1st time.

With a DJ and entertainer father, Annie grew up with a natural confidence and a flair for entertaining. She attended dance schools and colleges, studying musical theatre, acting and dance, before working at Hooters Liverpool, the largest in the world, in 2022. She worked her way up to Supervisor; serving:- wings, burgers, beers and more and managing a team of girls.

In 2023, local boxing promoters Trinity Entertainment and VIP Boxing Promotions were hosting an event at the venue and recruited a few of the staff as ring girls, but this was only the start of a career in boxing for Annie. After stepping in the ring as a ring girl for an event, she instantly took to it and it wasn't long before she signed contracts and got her professional license for the British Boxing Board Of Control.

Having now MC'd 6 professional fights, Annie has become the UK's 1st licensed female boxing ring announcer and is thriving as a trailblazer and a gamechanger for the industry. With her unique catchphrase of:- 'Let's Bring It On' and her stylish:- 'cute suits', she's been welcomed as a breath of fresh air on the professional boxing circuit.

Annie explained:- "I love working being a Hooters girl and it's such a laugh here but never did I think it would lead to being talent scouted as a ring girl and then a ring announcer. It was all a bit surreal the way it progressed and apparently I'm one of the very few who passes the British Boxing Board Of Control exam 1st time."

She continued:- "To be the 1st female licenced MC in the UK is something I'm really proud of and I'm hoping it could pave the way for other women. It's something that's typically associated with a male who has a big deep bellowing voice, but why can't it be a female? Everyone in the industry has been amazing, really encouraging and there hasn't been one instance of sexism or anything."

Whilst Annie is still serving American comfort food and beers with a smile at the Liverpool City Centre restaurant and managing a team of waitresses, she has plans to develop her career as a ring announcer further. With some big event lined up, she is hoping to one day announce a huge event on Sky TV.

Annie summarised:- "In today's world we need to break down barriers and challenge the status quo. Working at Hooters has taught me many great skills about serving the general public, particularly men, so it's put me in a good position to step into a man's world such as boxing. I'm grateful for the response though, people have been incredibly supportive and that's really encouraging."

Spirit Of The Lake

A stunning new mural is on display at:- The Floral Pavilion, in New Brighton, throughout the month of May. Spirit Of The Lake is a bold and innovative new masterpiece from local artist:- Joe Forrest, commissioned by The Friends Of New Brighton Marine Lake, and is being exhibited at:- The Floral Pavilion, until:- 1 June 2025.

Spirit Of The Lake is a striking piece that pays homage to New Brighton's Marine Lake, as it celebrates its 90th Birthday, and draws attention to the Town's rich coastal heritage. Following a grand unveiling on:- 1 May 2025, the mural's centrepiece can be viewed by the general public at:- The Floral Pavilion, before the full mural is installed, on The Marine Lake's wall.

Spirit Of The Lake; created as part of the Borough of Culture celebrations; will serve as a powerful new landmark, reinforcing The Marine Lake's status as one of the town's most cherished assets. Designed to be seen from all sides when installed on the wall, the artwork is inspired by key themes from the lake's legacy, including:- environmental conservation, wildlife, mythical creatures and water quality improvement.

The project has been co-ordinated by The Friends Of The Marine Lake; a group of local people committed to keeping the lake clean and safe for the enjoyment of all. With a big focus on improving the water quality and eco-system of the lake, they have joined forces with renowned local artist Joe Forrest to create an installation that gives the lake a new identity and public perception.

After presenting their vision and work to Wirral Council at the Tourism, Communities, Culture & Leisure Committee in November 2024, The Friends Of New Brighton Marine Lake were highly praised by the Committee Members. Negotiations are ongoing with Wirral Council about a long term partnership to improve the water quality and ecosystem.

Project Leader Tim Brundsen said:- "Hundreds of people use the lake every day, whatever the weather, gathering to chat, swim and dip together, building friendships and community, improving their mental health and wellbeing in the process. Unfortunately, the lake's water quality has been deteriorating, often full of debris and rubbish, green and brackish. We are taking action to reverse this decline."

He continued:- "Thanks to Wirral Borough Of Culture funding, part funded by Wirral Council with funding from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we've been able to create a piece of art that gives the lake a whole new identity. We hope that it will encourage conversations and change people's perceptions about this beautiful asset."

Beyond its aesthetic impact, the mural will provide a significant visual uplift, brightening the lake and its surroundings. This stunning new attraction marks a step forward in the area's ongoing transformation, celebrating its past while looking toward an exciting future.

Artist Joe Forrest added:- "It's an honour to have been selected to create this piece for this very special project. We've decided to leave The Spirit Of The Lake nameless so that people can create their own interpretations of her. We had a great turn out for the unveiling at The Floral Pavilion and I'm looking forward to the full mural being installed on The Marine Lake soon."
