Heat, the threat of thunder, and rising stars at the 2025 Liverpool International Tennis Tournament

THE sun blazed, rackets clashed, and rising stars took to the historic grass courts at:- Liverpool Cricket Club as the:- Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2025 wrapped up another successful edition on:- Sunday 21 June 2025d.

From:- Thursday, 19 June to Saturday, 21 June, Merseyside played host to some of the world’s most promising tennis talent. The event, a key stop in the pre-Wimbledon circuit, delivered world class matches, celebrity appearances, and a few very British weather interruptions.

While the 1st 2 days saw scorching heat, with courtside temperatures pushing into the high 20s, Saturday brought the threat of thunderstorms, briefly halting play. But seasoned organisers and players took it in stride, ensuring the tournament ran smoothly despite the occasional delay a familiar scene at UK grass court events.
Spanish Starlet Makes Her Mark

1 of the standout stories of the weekend was 23 year old Sandra Alonso, a Spanish player making her grass court debut on British soil. Ranked No. 823 in the ITF singles standings (as of July 2024), Alonso brought energy and precision to the court, impressing both fans and pundits.  "This has been such an important experience for me," Alonso told Mersey Reporter in an exclusive post-match interview. "Playing alongside current and former Wimbledon players has already helped my game grow. I’m hoping to be at Wimbledon next year."  You can watch our exclusive interview on our Mersey Mewsbites section of Mersey Reporter, by clicking on here.
