Southport Hesketh Round Table say they will continue collecting funds for the Southport families as they thanked people for their support

VOLUNTEERS have now raised over £200,000 for those affected by last summer’s tragedy and aim to keep their page open as:- "their journey isn’t over" and continued support is needed.

Southport Hesketh Round Table is currently working with Southport Football Club to host a special star studded Charity Match at:- Haig Avenue, on Sunday, 3 August 2025, where money raised will also go to the families.

Marc Foreman from Southport Hesketh Round Table said:- "Where has the time gone As we approach the anniversary of the tragic events of 29 July 2024, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed. I'm incredibly proud to share that, thanks to your generosity, we’ve now raised over £200,000, including the £185,000 donated through this GoFundMe Page. Every single donation, share, kind word, and gesture of support has helped us reach this astonishing milestone. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. The money raised is being used in many different ways by the families, but at its heart, it’s helping these families create new memories and begin to heal. While nothing can undo what happened, your support is helping them move forward, one step at a time. The strength and resilience these families have shown is nothing short of extraordinary. The charities, foundations, and community projects that have emerged in the wake of this tragedy are a testament to the power of unity and compassion. Every time I see a community event, a charity fundraiser, or even a football shirt bearing a tribute logo, I feel a deep sense of pride in Southport and in the people who have stood by these families. We know the coming weeks will be difficult. The media will revisit the events of that day, and Southport will once again be in the spotlight. If we could ask one thing, it’s this: please focus on the good that has come from such a terrible moment. Share the stories of strength, of kindness, of community. Let’s not force these families to relive the trauma, but instead show them that the world sees their courage and stands with them. We’ve chosen to keep this GoFundMe page open because their journey isn’t over. There are still events and activities taking place, and people continue to ask how they can help. If you’d like to support the families, please know that your donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. This isn’t just about one day or one week. These families will carry the memories of that day for the rest of their lives, and your support helps them build new ones filled with hope. If you'd still like to donate, you can still do so online at:- GoFund.Me. We’ve also partnered with Southport Football Club in a Soccer-Aid style celebrity Football Match, which will take place at:- Southport Football Club, on:- Sunday, 3 August 2025, so if you’d like to share an afternoon raising money for the families affected by what happened please go on to the Southport FC website to buy your tickets, Thank you again. You are all heroes in your own way, standing with these families, showing love, and reminding us all that even in the face of tragedy, humanity shines through. This could have happened anywhere, to any community. And yet, you chose to care. That means everything."

Letter to Editor:- "Church Gardens need volunteers."

"MY name is Clive Baines I'm one of the senior Altar Servers within Southport's:- St Maries, St Patrick's, Holy Family Churches. When I am not helping with services I also look after the gardens at:- St Maries, St Patrick's, and help at St Patrick's Primary School, looking after the School's Vegetable Gardens, whilst teaching the children about growing home grown veg... Sadly, I can't do all the work that is now required and I need help looking after the Church Gardens. I'm always looking for volunteers. If you can help, we would appreciate it. All you have to do is give as little or as much time as you want. Volunteering really helps people in so many ways and by spending a bit of time in the open air and gardens really can make you and others feel much better. So if you or anyone would like to spend a little time making our community a better and happier place let me know by emailing me or contacting me through the Churches... Lots of Blessings." Clive Baines.
