Artists assemble for a groundbreaking youth music event!

YOUNG musical talent from across the Liverpool City Region and Warrington will take centre stage this December 2025, as Scousevision, a brand new, large scale youth music show; makes its debut at ACC Liverpool.

Performers are now being invited to audition for Scousevision, organised by the Sound! Music Hub Youth Board. The celebration is open to community groups, schools (including:- school choirs), independent artists, such as musicians, vocalists and independent bands up to the age of 21 (or 25 for SEND participants).

Taking place in front of an audience of nearly a thousand people on:- Friday, 5 December 2025, the concert will feature twelve live acts reflecting the diversity, creativity, and ambition of young people across the Region.

Scousevision is an opportunity for young performers to share their sound, their talent and to join others with the aim of sparking new connections, inspiring future collaborations, and showcasing the next generation of music makers to open doors for the Region's rising stars.

It highlights the Liverpool City Region's commitment to nurturing new talent and creating real opportunities for young people who aspire to careers in the music industry. Music Hub working with music services across the Region to support and elevate youth creativity and I think we'll be in for an unforgettable evening supporting our position as the UK's cultural and creative capital."

The Sound! Music Hub is:- 1 of 43, in the UK providing music education and opportunities to children and young people, creating pathways into a music career. Funded by the Department for Education (DfE) through Arts Council England, Sound! is led by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as the Hub Lead Organisation (HLO).

Serving Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Warrington, the Hub brings together a variety of organisations ensuring everyone has the chance to be involved in music, from traditional lessons to DJing and digital music initiatives.

Award drives home success of Liverpool's road improvements

LIVERPOOL City Council was handed a prestigious award at the Department for Transport Special Recognition Awards Ceremony.

The Council's Transport, Highways and Parking team took home the Collaborative Partnership Award in an event hosted by the Local Council Roads Innovations Group (LCRIG) on:- Wednesday, 1 October 2025.

Recognition was given for the success of the Highways Investment Programme (HIP), which is multi million pound initiative delivered in collaboration with:- Dowhigh, Huyton Asphalt, Colas, Mott Macdonald, AECOM, Wilde Consulting Engineers and Amey.

This programme has transformed Liverpool's road and street infrastructure, prioritising safety, accessibility and sustainability.

Spanning 2 major phases, the programme has:-

• Resurfaced over 100,000 square metres of roads across the City.
  

• Installed more than 100 tactile crossings to improve pedestrian safety.
  

• Fixed flags, curbs and drainage to create safer pavements.
  

• Delivered targeted improvements in the north and south of the City.
  

• Preserved heritage streets like Blackburne Place using sustainable construction methods including:- recycled asphalt, bio-materials, and electric plant vehicles.
  

• Created new cycling infrastructure, including:- upgrades to the Loop Line and a new bike track in Everton Park to help young people learning to ride.

The initiative has also created significant employment opportunities, with 19 long-term unemployed individuals securing positions and 163 weeks of apprenticeships supported.

Speaking about the project, judges described it as:- 'very strong' with:- 'all the elements,' as well as being:- 'strong on social value delivery across a range of outcomes, particularly apprenticeship and long term unemployed.'

Councillor Dan Barrington, Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity said:- "We're delighted to have received the Collaborative Partnership Award at this week's event. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, innovation, and shared commitment of everyone involved in the Highways Investment Programme, from our dedicated Council teams to our fantastic delivery partners. The programme has not only improved the quality and safety of our roads, but it's also created jobs and apprenticeships for local residents."
