River of Light Liverpool 2025 - The annual 'Waterfront Light Trail' in Liverpool

THE 8th River of Light was held from:- Friday, October 24, to Sunday, November 2, 2025, with the theme being:- 'Optics' and the event being entitled:- 'The Science of Light.'

The event gave locals and tourists alike a chance to walk around a spectacular:- 3KM light trail, with:- 10 artworks for them to discover.

The event is offered as an alternative to the traditional firework displays, with artwork located within the historic waterfront and within parts of the Liverpool City Centre.

The installations were lit up from:- 5pm to 9pm, attracting large crowds. Many of the sculptures incorporated robotics, with most being interactive in some way.

They included works by:- "Face Value" by scientist Emma Brass, artist Venya Krutikov and the Invisible Wind Factory.

In 2024, Liverpool City Council has said the event brought in:- £18.9 million to the local economy, and this year seems to yet again have attracted record breaking visitors to the event.
