Every neighbourhood in Liverpool to have its own Family Hub

THE number of Family Hubs in Liverpool will more than double as the City Council looks to establish a hub in every neighbourhood.

There are currently 5 Family Hubs in Liverpool, but the Council has now agreed to expand this number to 12, ensuring every community can access a hub close to home.

Building on the well established strengths of Liverpool's Children's Centres, a Family Hub is a place where all families with children and young people aged:- 0 to 19 (or 25 if the young person has special educational needs or disabilities) can access:- coordinated support, information, advice, and activities.

The next Family Hub to be established will be based at what is now Kensington Children's Centre and will launch with a special event for the whole community.

The event will take place on:- Wednesday, 19 November 2025, from:- 10am; 12pm, with a range of activities available as well as a range of partners offering information, advice, and support to families.

Activities will include Jumping Jacks, Rhythm and Rhyme, SENsory stay and play (SWAN) and more. Food and refreshments will also be provided. There's no need to book, families can just drop in.

The remaining new Family Hubs are scheduled to open their doors over the coming weeks and months and further details of those launches will be announced by the Council soon.

To find out more about Family Hubs in Liverpool and where your local Family Hub is, please visit the Liverpool City Council website.

Cllr Joanne Kennedy, Cabinet Member for Employment, Educational Attainment and Skills at Liverpool City Council,
said:- "Our ambition is that every neighbourhood in Liverpool can access their own Family Hub, and this expansion means that we're now delivering that. Family Hubs are there to ensure families can find a multitude of resources and activities designed to support their health, education, and wellbeing, in a supportive environment. Please come and visit us for a morning of fun on the 19 November at the Kensington Children's Centre to find out more about the services available at the Family Hub. I look forward to seeing everyone there and kickstarting this latest rollout of Family Hubs in Liverpool."

Southport Primary School Donates over 100 boxes of cereal to families in need

LINAKER Primary School in Southport has donated over 100 boxes of cereal to families in need as part of the School's foodbank.

With a recent study showing that nearly a 3rd of students often attend School without any breakfast, donations like this can be key to helping children keep healthy and learn well throughout their School life.

Children at Linaker celebrated the donation by forming a huge chain of dominos made up of the 100 plus cereal boxes, which will be distributed throughout the local community.

The move is a part of Linaker's:- 'food pantry' scheme, which allows families who need support to attend School and receive basic food and hygiene products.

This is just 1 of the ways in which Linaker Primary School supports the local community.

Mark Cunniffe, headteacher at Linaker Primary School
, commented:- "We take great pride in our local Southport community, and are very much a part of it. We all know that we live in tough times for many, and we're proud to play a small part in making things a little easier for those who might be struggling. If our donations help 1 parent sleep easier tonight knowing that breakfast for their child is sorted for tomorrow, or 1 student learns that much better for not coming to School hungry, then we're very happy to have contributed."

Linaker Primary School takes great pride in its rich multicultural and multi faith community.

After learning about the various religious and cultural traditions that celebrate harvest, pupils, together with their families, came together to make generous donations of cereal.

This initiative allowed the children to celebrate the autumn season in a meaningful and inclusive way, fully living out the School's values of togetherness, empathy, and mutual respect.

Applications for children to join Linaker Primary School, in September 2026, are currently open, with the national applications deadline on the:- 15 January 2025. To find out more, click here.
