Newton-LE-Willows Teen in Miss Teen Great Britain Semi-Finals

A local teenager, Zuzanna Smolen, from Newton-le-Willows, a Market Town within the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside, has secured a place in the semi finals of Miss Teen Great Britain 2026, beating competition from across the UK.

Zuzanna is a student at Rainhill High School, where she performs well academically and successfully balances her education with a demanding training schedule. She also represents her school football team, demonstrating commitment both in the classroom and on the pitch. She was selected from hundreds of applicants nationwide and is now 1 step closer to competing in the prestigious national pageant, which celebrates confidence, ambition and positive role models among young women.

Outside of school, Zuzanna is very active in sport. Zuzanna plays football at an advanced level and trains with established football academies and FA-recognised development centres as a goalkeeper, demonstrating strong discipline, teamwork and determination. In her free time, she also enjoys horse riding, which helps her build confidence and focus.

Speaking about her achievement, Zuzanna said:- "I'm so excited and proud to have made it through to the semi-finals. It means a lot to me and motivates me to keep working hard and believing in myself."

Teenagers from across Great Britain will now compete for a place in the grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain 2026, where finalists will take part in a full weekend of events, including training workshops, challenges and social activities.

The grand final will take place in 2026 in Blackpool, with the winner receiving an impressive selection of prizes, including a cash prize.

Zuzanna
added:- "Making it to the grand final would be a dream come true. I would love the opportunity to represent Newton-le-Willows and inspire other young people to follow their passions and believe in themselves."

Spark Drummers light up Knowsley in Festive Finale!

THE streets of Knowsley were alive with light and sound in the run up to Christmas, as the internationally acclaimed Spark! Illuminated Drummers completed their 4 night tour across the borough.

From Thursday, 11 December through to:- Sunday, 14 December, the LED percussionists brought their high energy, rhythmic spectacle to:- Huyton Village, Kirkby Town Centre, Halewood Leisure Centre and Prescot Town Centre to round up Knowsley's festive celebrations.

The return of Spark! proved to be a resounding success, drawing huge crowds keen to experience the unique blend of dynamic drumming and kaleidoscopic light design.

Building on the success of their previous appearances in Knowsley, this latest tour cemented Spark!'s reputation for delivering truly spectacular public theatre.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Knowsley's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development
said:- "We were thrilled to welcome Spark! back to our town centres for their festive tour. Seeing so many families and friends gathered, smiling and enthralled by the performance was fantastic. The drummers truly delivered an explosive and joyful show that perfectly captured the festive spirit across Knowsley."
