Veterans Invited to Monthly Help for Heroes Drop In Sessions in Southport

VETERANS and their families living in Southport and across the Sefton area are being invited to attend monthly drop-in sessions hosted by the charity Help for Heroes.

The sessions are led by the charity's Community Builder, Nick Settle, and take place on:- the 3rd Tuesday of every month at:- The Life Rooms Southport, from:- 10am to 4pm.

Nick said:- “What makes Help for Heroes unique is that we don't just help veterans and their families with 1 area, but can support with physical health, mental health, wellbeing and welfare issues. We know that there are a number of veterans who have made Southport their home, and we want to let them know that we're here if they need us. They can just pop along for a chat, no need to book in advance.”

It is estimated that there are 10,800 veterans living in the Sefton area. The Charity supports veterans and their families from any branch of the UK military, both regulars and reserves; irrespective of length or place of service. Support is also available to locally embedded civilians who worked under the command of UK Armed Forces.

Nick added:- “Veterans have a lot of skills and experience that can be beneficial to local communities. As well as letting veterans know about our services, I'm hoping to find 1 or 2 veterans who are interested in volunteering to help build local, resilient networks for veterans and their families, to make Southport a welcoming place for veterans.”
