FAMILIES are invited to �wrap up the summer in style' as the 4 day:-'S&Beer Festival' returns to Southport this August Bank Holiday weekend.

For the 5th year running, people will be able to head to Southport & Birkdale Sports Club on Trafalgar Road in Birkdale for 4 days of:- live music, sporting action, family entertainment, delicious street food, and with 64 barrels of different real ales and ciders to try.

It takes place from:- Friday, 28 August to Monday 31 August 2026.

Tickets for adults each day are �5 each in advance (or �7 on the door) available from the Ticket Source website.

Children under 18 are admitted free.

There is a wealth of sporting action to enjoy, including:- the S&B 1st XI cricket team in action, on Saturday, and the return of the junior football tournament raising funds for:- Elsie's Story, on Sunday.

This year, S&B and Southport Rugby Club have been working closely together on a series of fundraising events for:- Elsie's Story and Southport Soup Kitchen, strengthening ties between the 2 clubs.

On Monday, they will be facing off in an S&B v Southport Rugby Club cricket match.

Other days will include:-

Friday, 28 August 2026 - Gates open at:- 3pm. Bradley Palin, The Kois, and more. Live music until:- 11 pm.
Saturday, 29 August 2026 - Gates open at:- 3pm. Dave Broe, Decoy, and more. Live music until:- 11 pm.
Sunday, 30 August 2026 - Gates open at:- 3pm. Saxmode, Coast, Travelling Wannabess, and more. Live music until:- 11 pm.
Monday, 31 August 2026 - Gates open at:= 3pm. Danny Jones, Connor Farrell, and more. Live music until:- 11 pm.

Street food vendors on-site will include JT Akshaya (authentic Indian street food); Tik Taco (Mexican street food); Cake Corner (cakes, sweets and treats); Purely Slice Pizza (wood fired pizza); plus catering from Totally D'Vine.

People will be able to enjoy the event inside the S&B clubhouse and in a luxury marquee, which is being installed on Tuesday by Elite Events.

Sound and lighting is being provided by Moonlight Events.

The S&Beer Festival is happening at a similar time as the:- Southport Air Show (29 August and 30 August 2026), in a bumper weekend of family fun for local people and visitors alike.

Southport & Birkdale Sports Club David Salt said:- "We're very excited to be bringing the S&Beer Festival back to S&B for our 5th year due to popular demand! This August Bank Holiday is the final weekend for families to enjoy before children head back into School and some parents head back into work. The S&Beer Fest is the perfect way to wrap up the summer holidays in style! It's a very fun, family friendly event packed with:- live music, street food, entertainment, and great sporting action."

David continued:- "In July we hosted the Scottsdale Golf Festival, at S&B while The 154th Open Golf Tournament was taking place at Royal Birkdale nearby. It was a huge success, with so many local and international visitors. It took a huge effort to put together, so we weren't sure initially whether or not to also host the S&Beer Fest this summer too. But after the huge success of the festival over the past 4 years, so many of our members, and so many visitors, have been asking us if we could run it again that we couldn't say no! The S&Beer Fest has been getting bigger and better every year we've hosted it, with the numbers growing as word gets around."

He added:- "S&B is a superb venue for festivals like this. Elite Events is providing a large luxury marquee with lots of outdoor and indoor furniture, so this will be the place to be whatever the weather and it's great to see:- Moonlight Events supporting another of our events too. There is so much to enjoy on each day of the festival including our 1st XI cricket match on:- Saturday, the Elsie's Story junior football tournament on Sunday and then the cricket match between:- S&B and Southport Rugby Club on Monday, featuring players with a variety of playing abilities! Southport Air Show is also taking place this weekend so there's lots for families to enjoy in Southport. We're hosting live music until 11 pm each night, so anyone heading to:- Southport Air Show, during the day can then come along and enjoy the S&Beer Fest afterwards."

UK has marked the 1st National Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism

PEOPLE across the UK are marked the 1st 1st National Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism on:- 21 August 2026, This event was aimed to get the public to remember those who have lost their lives to terrorism and stand in solidarity with victims, survivors and their families, as the country marks its in the future. The date of 21 August was selected following a public consultation, where it was the most popular option among respondents.

Observed for the new National Day provides an opportunity for communities to come together in remembrance, reflection and support. It will now take place annually on the same date.

The day recognises the many different ways people can be affected by terrorism. This includes those who have:- lost their lives, bereaved families and loved ones, people who have been injured, witnesses to terrorist attacks, first responders and others affected through their involvement in responding to incidents.

It commemorates those affected by attacks in the UK as well as British nationals impacted by terrorism overseas.

The National Day aims not only to remember those who have died, but also to recognise the lasting impact terrorism can have on individuals, families and entire communities.

It seeks to highlight the resilience of victims and survivors, improve public understanding of their experiences and strengthen community solidarity by bringing people together in support of those affected.

The date of 21 August was selected following a public consultation, where it was the most popular option among respondents.

It also coincides with the:-'United Nations International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism,' allowing the UK to join the international community in remembering victims and survivors.

The UN established its international day in 2017 to honour and support victims and survivors of terrorism and promote and protect their human rights and fundamental freedoms.

It has highlighted how the consequences of terrorism can continue long after the immediate aftermath of an attack has passed, with victims potentially requiring long term physical, psychological, social and financial support.

Communities can mark the next:-'National Day', in 2027, in a number of ways, including:- holding a moment of remembrance or reflection, supporting local commemorative activities, encouraging discussion about the impact of terrorism, and raising awareness of the support available to victims and survivors.

Anyone affected by terrorism can also access the:-'Support Hub for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism,' which provides access to practical help, specialist trauma-informed mental health support and peer support.

The message at the heart of the new National Day is 1 of remembrance and solidarity:- remembering those lost to terrorism, recognising the experiences of victims and survivors, and standing alongside all those affected.
