Nightrider Liverpool scheduled for summer 2020

FOR the 5th year running Nightrider, the iconic fun filled night time cycle challenge, will return to Liverpool, on 11 July to 12 July 2020. It's known as 1 of the best loved annual cycle events, because it's all about seeing the sights, having a great night out with friends and family, all for a good cause!  This charity night ride is a unique way to discover the iconic sights and lesser known attractions throughout Liverpool and The Wirral. With over a hundred people already registered, this year is gearing up to be the best night out in Liverpool this summer!

Nightrider is different to many other fundraising events: it's not timed, it's not a race and everyone taking part can support any charity they choose. With the aim of raising ₤150,000 in 1 night, Nightrider is calling for more riders to get involved. Participants can register for 1 of the many Charity Partners including Series Partner British Heart Foundation or Tour Partners, Alzheimer's Society and Cancer Research. Local charities Alder Children's Hospital and Claire House Children's Hospice also have places. Alternatively, riders can register on an Own Place and choose any charity of their choice to support. Nightrider is open to everyone over 18 and anyone who is prepared to put in some training beforehand can take up the challenge! Nightrider is a route of 2 halves: the Wirral loop and the Liverpool loop. There are 2 distances to choose from; 50km (you have the choice of either the Wirral loop or the Liverpool loop) or 100km (both loops) so there is something for everyone, from novice riders to more experienced cyclists. The event starts at Pier Head and sets off through the Mersey Tunnel, which is closed to other traffic, to the scenic Wirral Peninsula. Highlights include the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, West Kirby and Port Sunlight, with spectacular views across the Mersey to the City's iconic skyline. The Liverpool Loop takes in more renowned sights:- Albert Docks, Echo Arena, Empire Theatre, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, Aintree Racecourse, Knotty Ash, Anfield Stadium and Goodison Park; as well as many hidden gems.

The night itself offers the chance to have fun, get active and enjoy a Saturday night out, with a difference, while doing something positive. The event is popular with friends and family, plus there are corporate packages available so it's an ideal team building event for companies. A Nightrider Liverpool 2019 participant had this to say:- "I'd never done a charity bike ride before but with some training and support from my friend, I hit my target and had a great fun ride out too!"

Organised by leading charity tour operator Classic Challenge, Nightrider is clearly sign posted so that riders can cycle at their own pace. There are break stops every 25km plus medical support and mechanical backup are provided throughout the night. Everyone receives a well-earned breakfast and medal at the finish line. The event is supported by Virgin Money Giving, the official fundraising partner. Nightrider events will also be taking place in London and Bristol in 2020.
