Press regulator IMPRESS delivers talks about press regulation in Southport

OUR media business VAMPHire.com hosted the second event of its year long industry program of events, as IMPRESS, the UK's Independent Press Regulator visited the Bijou Cinema, in Southport. The day's events started in the afternoon, with members of the Regulator talking to students from Range High School and Greenbank High School, about press regulation and control of fake news. This was a very interesting and eye opening talk. Then in the evening, Edward Procter, who is the Chief Executive Officer at IMPRESS, gave fantastic talk about the importance of regulation, supporting independent media, and investigative journalism, balanced with the need to protect the public. Edward Procter said:- "It was great to speak to school groups and the public about investigative journalism, press regulation and media rights."

We will be putting a link to the video which we took at the event on here very soon. We want to say a massive 'thanks' to all who attended and also to both IMPRESS and the Bijou Cinema.  If you attended we would be very interested to know your thoughts on the issues raised, plus if you want us to pass any questions on to IMPRESS you can email us at:- News24@SouthportReporter.com and also you can contact IMPRESS directly via:- Info@IMPRESS.Press. Plus, why not sign up to receive regular updates from IMPRESS on the latest developments by the Regulator's newsletter Services.IMPRESS.Press/eNewsletter.
