Travellers entering the UK from
Spain will have to go into quarantine
SPAIN has seen more than
28,000 Coronavirus deaths since the start of the Covid19 Pandemic and
the Spanish Government had hopped that the end was in site.
Sadly the biggest biggest daily increase in infections since its
lockdown in Spain ended happened on Thursday, in Catalonia area.
This spike has lead to France has warned its citizens not to
travel to the Region and while Norway has said it will start
quarantining people arriving from Spain. Now, only days after
quarantine measures for UK travellers to Spain have been
re-introduced. Spanish officials have also warned a second wave
could be imminent as major cities have seen cases surge after
more than 900 new cases of the virus reported on Friday.
Now all Travellers returning to the UK, from Spain, after
midnight tonight will have to quarantine for 14 days until
further notice. A spokesman from the UK's Department for
Transport said:- "We have taken this decision to limit any
potential spread to the UK. We've always been clear that we
would act immediately to remove a country where necessary."
It has lead to more calls that the UK Government should issue
advice that only essential foreign travel should be allowed. Just
as in the Spain, in the UK young people is a particular worry,
as they have been gathering in large numbers in cities and towns
and this has highlighted the need for the UK Government to do
more to target messages our young people, warning them of the
dangers, or we could be next!
UK travellers currently on holiday in Spain should follow the
local rules, return home as normal, and check the Foreign
Office's travel advice website for further information.
