The River of Light Trail 2021

THE River of Light Trail was opened on 24 March 2021, 1 year since the 1st UK Lockdown started. Sadly, over the weekend Culture Liverpool had to close it. In a press announcement and on Social Media they said:- “Due to high winds the River Of Light will have to be turned off. We hope to switch back on on Monday and look forward to welcoming you back throughout the week.”

If you have not already seen it, it is an outdoor illuminated gallery of stunning light installations, located around Liverpool’s City Centre (UK). It includes a beautiful Rainbow Bridge on the City’s iconic waterfront, near Graving Dock, and other visual installations made by local, national, and international artists.

The 2km walking loop trail features 10 exhibits, that will be operating from 6pm to 10.30pm, every evening, until 5 April 2021. But, Liverpool City Council says this free attraction is for Liverpool residents only. Anyone attending is asked to wear a face covering (unless medically exempt), maintain social distancing, bring their own hand sanitiser, and abide by all Government Covid19 Restrictions.

Liverpool’s Acting Mayor, Councillor Wendy Simon, said:- "This is a symbolic invitation to Liverpool residents to start slowly and safely rediscovering the City once again, and points to brighter times ahead."
