Merseyside Homebuilder helps pupils look on the bright side for walk to School month

PUPILS at St William of York Catholic Primary School, Liverpool, recently received a donation of reflective vests from Barratt Homes to help them shine bright whilst on their way to and from School for Road Safety Week in 15 November to 21 November 2021. The 5 star house builder gave the School reflective vests for its pupils to wear whilst walking to and from School, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads as the darker nights draw in. Road Safety Week runs in November each year and encourages pupils to celebrate the journey to School on foot.

Martin Murphy, Headteacher at St William of York Catholic Primary School, said:- "We are very grateful for the donation of reflective vests to our children. They loved trying them on and are looking forward to our visits out when we will make very good use of the vests. The vests make the children so much more visible to motorists, they are an essential piece of equipment for the darker days or in bad weather. We thank Barratt Homes very much for supporting us to keep the children safe."

St William of York Catholic Primary School is located near the homebuilder's Sundial Place development on Lydiate Lane and the donation of hi-vis vests is another part of Barratt Homes' outreach to the local community. In what's been a challenging time for Schools across the country as a result of the Pandemic, the leading developer is as committed as ever to providing support during Road Safety Week and beyond.

Philippa Stewart, Sales Director at Barratt Homes North West, said:- "We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible now the darker nights are here, and our donation has hopefully still encouraged them to safely practice Road Safety Week. This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local School children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the vests have proven to be both effective and practical. As a result of the Covid19 crisis, it's even more important for us to support the local Schools in and around the communities we build, so we're thrilled to have had the chance to support St William of York Catholic Primary School during Road Safety Week."

Barratt Homes' hi-vis vests will be particularly useful during Road Safety Week, whilst being certain to benefit the pupils in their future journeys to School throughout the winter months.

Starkidz elves bring festive mayhem to Silcock's Funland to launch Christmas season in style

THE Starkidz elves brought their cheeky brand of mayhem to Silcock's Funland in Southport, to help them launch the Christmas season in style! The mischievous elves delighted passers by with their visit to Funland; the home of family fun. Southport's largest family amusement centre has stood as the grand entrance to Southport Pier, on the Promenade, for many years. The attraction is now counting down the days to Christmas with visitors enjoying a variety of games in the arcade from just 2p a play to ₤1. As they win they can choose from a wide range of superb festive prizes, which make great Christmas presents.

Silcock's Operations Manager Serena Silcock Prince said:- "I have known Jan from Starkidz for years! The Starkidz elves are great at what they do. We thought once Halloween is over, let's start Christmas in style, and bring some Christmas cheer to Southport. It was great to see them get the ball rolling for us. We have just put up our Christmas Tree here at Funland. A lot of our staff have fun and dress up in festive style around this time of year. We have got lots of great prizes at Funland from:- fidgets, reversible octopus toys, board games, to much bigger prizes which we can source specifically at the request of our customers such as iPhones or Playstations. We also have copies of the 2022 Seen From Above Calendar by talented local photographer Ben ArreazaSeed, which features stunning aerial pictures of Southport, which is available here in Funland too. We have a lot of regular customers who come into Funland throughout the year and save up the tickets they win ready for this time of year. Then they bring them in and choose the prizes they want to do their Christmas shopping! Winning prizes is much more fun than going shopping for them! We are running the promotion in our Silcock Family amusement centres in Nevill Street also. It is the customers who give us their ideas for our prizes. If they can't see what they want here, then we will often try to source specific prizes for them."

Serena Silcock Prince is looking forward to a busy Christmas in Southport this year after the festive celebrations were curtailed by a Covid lockdown last year.  She would love to see people do all they can to Shop Local, Eat Local and do all they can to support local businesses this November and December.

She said:- "People missed out on so much last Christmas. We really want to make the most of it this year. There are so many reasons for people to shop in Southport this Christmas. There is so much going on, and Southport BID is creating lots of reasons for people to visit Southport. The lights along Lord Street look beautiful. The sparkling Christmas Tree in the Town Hall Gardens, which is due to go up soon, is lovely, it's really different. I always do all I can to support local shops, restaurants and other businesses in Southport, especially at Christmas."

Funland offers fun for all the family with children's games, rides and Southport's best Ticket Game Zone where the games are fun to play and easy to win. Inside Funland you will find a ₤1 Snack Bar offering:- toasties, paninis, sandwiches, fries, jacket potatoes, snacks and hot and cold drinks for just ₤1.
