O what a day... @ Waterloo FC
Photographs by Patrick Trollope

A COLD morning at 8:00am but Rugby Union fans knew they were in for a special treat as they arrived at Waterloo Rugby Club in Crosby on Saturday 27 November. AT 9:00 Rugby Union fans on their seats as the England v Australia World Cup game went out live, no more so than at the club that no less than four players came from. In the Waterloo Room the tension was so tense that you could cut a knife as game was played out live on the big screen. Thoughts were with the team as the match came to its climatic end and the room erupted into cheers and celebrations as shampain bottles burst open and corks flew into the air as the hopes of Australia came to an end.

As the celebrations continued out side schools took part in matches.

The celebrations did not stop. The next celebration, hot off the warm feeling of a victorious England Match, came a more personal celebration for the club, as the club opened its new Stand. The Ceremony had club Chairman, Colin Brennand and Clair Curtis Thomas cutting the ribbon and declaring with other councilors and guests that the Stand was now open.

Then if that was not enough, a quick brake and the The Fylde game started with Waterloo steaming head and that did not end through out the game. Despite some bad defending that allowed Fylde through, the team held on and scored a massive 45 to Fylde’s 19 by the end of play.
