DYLAN MORAN UNLEASHES ANOTHER MONSTER

"DYLAN Moran makes you laugh so hard you have to put your head between your knees and gasp for air". The Observer Dec 2002

Unpredictable, startling, bizarre, elegiac, but above all brilliant and hilariously funny, DYLAN MORAN is a master of comedy, combining his talents, as an actor, writer and performer to incredible effect in his live stage show, Monster II.

Don’t be fooled by his unkempt appearance, benign expression and softly spoken Irish brogue. Watching MORAN perform live is an exhilaratingly unpredictable ride. At one moment an unexpectedly long silence has the audience in nervous suspense, then suddenly they erupt into hysterical laughter.

DYLAN is a man whose career has meandered as much as his unfettered, whimsical monologues. Since winning Channel 4’s "SO YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY?” followed three years later by a PERRIER AWARD, Moran has scored a cult success as writer/performer in two series of the BAFTA award-winning sitcom "BLACK BOOKS". The Third series is due to start in March 2004.

He’s starred alongside MICHAEL CAINE and MICHAEL GAMBON in the film "THE ACTORS", and achieved critical acclaim in SIMON NYE'S comedy drama "HOW DO YOU WANT ME?” as well as taking roles in the feature films "SHAUN OF THE DEAD" and "NOTTING HILL". In between his acting commitments he toured several shows on the road from Kilkenny to Montreal.

MONSTER II sees a return to the medium of stand-up in which he is effortlessly comfortable, despite looking ill at ease in his too-trendy-for-his-hair denims. He is, according to the EVENING NEWS, the "Oscar Wilde of stand-up" and in this guise he takes you on an unpredictable journey that shifts fluidly from surreal fantasy to acerbic observation via linguistic gymnastics and flashes of the sublime. The effect is overwhelmingly funny and totally unforgettable.

Tue 24 Feb.. Love with Arthur Lee, plus The Yards. Only £16adv.

Just a quick reminder to everyone that time is running out to buy your tickets to see the recent NME Award Winner ‘Arthur Lee’ at Carling Academy Liverpool on Tuesday 24 February 2004.

The new award, ‘Living Legend’ was presented to Arthur, the inspirational Love frontman last Thursday at the NME Awards 2004. After accepting his award, Arthur said:- “I’d like to say this is an honour for me. I’d like to thank God, but this is the first time I’ve ever received an award from the enemy!”

Love has long been recognized as one of rock's truly legendary bands. Led by the charismatic singer/guitarist Arthur Lee, this Los Angeles-based group was among the most influential and experimental of its era.

Lee and his band mates captured the look, sound, and attitude of a society in change. Love was the first multiracial rock band of the psychedelic era, and their music was appropriately diverse, delving into acoustic folk, electric blues-rock, symphonic pop, and jazz-tinged balladry, among other realms. As Lee commented recently:- "Variety is the spice of life, and God gave me a talent to be able to use any kind of music I choose. I don't like to be categorized.”

This is one group that truly made a difference.
