Letters To Editor "66 HEROES WANTED"

"I AM writing to your readers with a special request. I am looking for '66 Heroes to join me on a unique trekking adventure to Patagonia, Chile in October 2004, in memory of my late husband, Footballing legend Bobby Moore.

After Bobby's death from bowel cancer in 1993, I set up Cancer Research UK's Bobby Moore Fund, which has, to date, raised over £3 million for research into bowel cancer. We organise fundraising events throughout the year to ensure this vital research can continue and work hard to raise public awareness about the disease and its symptoms.

We are hoping to raise more than £100,000 from Trek Patagonia and to do this, we need your help. Taking on this 10-day challenge will not only give you the experience of a lifetime but also the chance to do something to help thousands of people out there who are affected by bowel cancer.

Patagonia is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions on the globe. Our trek will take place in the Torres del Paine National Park, following a trail around Torres Massif at the southern end of Chile. This spectacular park is a haven for many species of flora and fauna - giving trekkers the chance to see amazing wildlife such as condors, flamingos and llama-like guanaco.

Anyone over the age of 18 can join our team - all you need to do is pay a small registration fee and then reach a minimum fundraising target. No experience is needed, just determination and a sense of adventure.

You can find out more about trek Chile by visiting www.cancerresearchuk.org/treks, calling 0870 606 0016 or emailing me at treks@cancer.org.uk.

Please do join me on this adventure and become a '66 Hero.

Yours faithfully, Stephanie Moore MBE, Cancer Research UK's Bobby Moore Fund."
