1. Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway ITV1 Saturday 7.05pm NEW SERIES. The award-winning entertainment show returns for a new series which kicks off with guest appearances from Robbie Williams and  Kelly Holmes.

2. The Nuclear Football History Saturday 9pm.   Ever since the Cold War, each US president has been in possession of a briefcase containing everything needed to launch a nuclear war. This intriguing documentary reveals how it originated and how it is kept safe.

3. I’m Famous & Frightened Live Living TV Saturday-Monday 9pm.   I’m Famous & Frightened Extra Living TV Sunday 1.55pm & Monday 1.50pm. Tamara Beckwith and Colin Jackson are among the stars taking part in the latest series of the spooky reality show live from Dover Castle. Keith Chegwin presents, with extra coverage from Brian Dowling.

4. The Match Sky One Sunday 8pm Monday-Friday 9pm NEW SERIES.  Can a team of soccer-mad celebrities including Gary Lucy and Ralf Little really stand a chance in a match against a squad of footballing legends such as Gazza and Peter Beardsley?

5. Britain’s Favourite Comedians Five Sunday 8pm. Monday-Friday 11.05pm NEW SERIES.  Kings of Comedy E4 Monday-Wednesday 10pm Thursday 9pm.  NEW SERIES.   As Five prepares to announce who really tickles the nation’s funny bone, old school comedy takes on the new wave as four past masters compete with their more recent counterparts for their own show.

6. Himalaya BBC1 Sunday 9pm NEW SERIES.  Intrepid presenter Michael Palin undertakes another epic journey beginning at the Khyber Pass and travelling through the mountains of Pakistan to the Bay of Bengal.

7. Frances Tuesday ITV1 Monday  & Tuesday 9pm.   Tamzin Outhwaite has a makeunder to star in this two-part drama about a young mother who has to disguise herself with the help of plastic surgery to escape her villainous former lover.

8. 8 Simple Rules… The Disney Channel Monday-Friday 10pm. NEW SERIES. Following the untimely death of its star John Ritter last year, the US sitcom is back with James Garner joining the cast as Grandpa Jim who tries to help his family deal with their loss.

9. The Simple Life 2 E4 Monday 10.30pm NEW SERIES.  Socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie see how the other half live by embarking on a road-trip from Florida to California using any means possible to pay their way.

10. Stargate SG-1 Sky One Tuesday 8pm NEW SERIES .  As the sci-fi drama returns for a new series, Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Teal’c (Christopher Judge) call on the services of an old friend to help them rescue O’Neill (Richard Dean  Anderson).
