PRS TO HOST TOP MUSIC INDUSTRY PANEL IN LIVERPOOL

THE Royal Liverpool Philharmonic plays host to a new-style music industry panel on October 5 during the Radio 2 Live in Liverpool week of events, when PRS launches its "Demo to Limo" UK-wide tour, giving attendees a chance to put their questions to a panel of experts.

With a line-up of music industry experts who have worked with the likes of Coldplay, Radiohead, The Zutons, Craig David, Supergrass, Sir Paul McCartney and Beverley Knight, expect only the best in tips and advice to take aspiring music industry careers to the next level.

Kicking off with a Q&A session and introductions from the panellists, PRS' "Demo to Limo" will end with the various A&Rs, Producers, Songwriters and PRS professionals taking to the floor for an informal networking session and a drink.

PRS Industry Relations Executive Andy Ellis explained his decision to launch "Demo to Limo" in Liverpool:- "Liverpool seemed like a great place to start, as it has produced a wealth of musical talent over the decades and continues to do so today.

I'm sure that the panel's advice will help members of the audience to achieve musical success"

OLYMPIC SIZE POOL SET FOR APPROVAL

A LIVERPOOL Company is working flat out to help local firms face an autumn deadline that millions of British businesses are currently ignoring.

By October 1 businesses of all sizes, from shops to restaurants, health clubs, dentists and supermarkets, will need to become more user-friendly to Britain's 8.6 million disabled people.

"Many small businesses in particular are just hoping they will get away without doing anything"
, says David Sewards of the city-centre based Disability Access Service. "But they will often be risking legal action which could prove a lot more costly than taking some simple steps to protect themselves."

TDAS, which is developing its service with help from Business Link for Greater Merseyside, carries out an audit of the company, supplies the necessary products and services to ensure it complies with the latest Disability Discrimination Act regulations.

TDAS has also developed partnerships with a number of UK manufacturers who specialise in access products while David and his two fellow directors trained as auditors at the Centre for Accessible Environments in London.

Business Link for Greater Merseyside adviser Rachel McGuinness said:- "The company has had to work hard to get their message over because firms usually act only when legislation tells them they need to."
