EDGE HILL STUDENTS WIN PROMAX UK HALLMARK AWARD FOR MARKETING

THREE students from Edge Hill College of Higher Education shared in winning the Promax UK Hallmark Student Award for Marketing, becoming the only first year students to achieve the award.

Karl Walsh, James Wharton and Richard Turner are studying Media at the Ormskirk Campus. The students, who are now in their second year of study, attended the glittering awards ceremony, hosted by Matt Lucas of Little Britain fame, at the Grosvenor House Hotel earlier this month.

Eight hundred guests from the world of television saw Karl, James and Richard collect their prize, a Promax Golden Muse, along with a cheque for £1,000 and the offer of work experience with the Hallmark Channel.

Promax UK exists to help professional broadcast promotion makers develop skills and reward achievements through an annual awards competition. The student awards are now in their tenth year and the scheme is recognised as one of the television industry's prime initiatives in encouraging students to develop careers within promotion and marketing.

John Simons, Edge Hill's Dean of the Faculty of HMSAS (Humanities, Management, Social and Applied Sciences) added:- "This award is an important milestone in the development of the Media department at Edge Hill and is a credit to all the staff and students."

Edge Hill is fast becoming one of the best providers of practical media education in the country and this award is a valuable public recognition of the standards that are being achieved.
