Southport Result 3 - 0
Photos and match report by Sally Devine

SOUTHPORT played host to visitors Nuneaton last Saturday hoping to continue their fine run of late which has seen them challenging for the lead at the top of the Conference North. But the away side started in earnest and gave Southport problems as they attacked in numbers, Dickinson having to produce two fine saves from Mark Noon and then Gez Murphy.

Leadbetter responded for Southport with a shot which grazed the post but went wide of the target.
The opening goal came on 25 minutes, Acton in goal for Nuneaton blocked the initial shot from Terry Fearns but Robinson was on hand to dispatch the rebound .Barely had the match restarted when Robinson latched on to a pass from Kevin Leadbetter and fired in from close range.

Things got better for the Sandgrounders on 36 mins, Baker played a swift 1-2 with Robinson who crossed the ball to Lynch, the midfielder blasting the ball in from eight yards.

Southport left the field at half time to a standing ovation.

The second half of the match proved to be an anti climax, Nuneaton shell shocked with few forays on goal save for Fitzpatricks good effort well saved by Dickinson. The visitors included three ex Southport players Whittaker, McGorry and captain Neil Moore.
Next match at Haig Avenue is on Boxing day when Stalybridge Celtic provide the opposition.
