Queen's Birthday Honours for CAFOD Shop Founder Harry

FORMER Crosby Head Teacher, Harry Wallace has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Harry has supported CAFOD for over 20 years, organising events such as the CAFOD Liverpool Fun Run. In 1993 Harry decided to set up the CAFOD shop
in Waterloo.

CAFOD director Chris Bain said:- "It's people like Harry that make a very real difference to our work. This award celebrates the life and work of an ordinary man who has made such an extraordinary impact on his own community and far beyond.

Harry is not someone who seeks recognition for his achievements and I know he has accepted this award not just for himself but all the ordinary people who have worked alongside him."

Since 1993, the CAFOD shop has raised over £250,000 for projects in 60 countries around the world, as well as raising awareness of injustice and providing the local community with good quality items at affordable prices.

Harry, who lives in Crosby, is the former headmaster of the Sacred Heart School in Crosby.
