THE sun shinned
on PCG Sidecar Racing Team on Saturday 17 September at Aintree Race
Course. Passenger Claire Hopkins had unfortunately been involved in
an accident three weeks prior to the race, after falling of her push
bike and receiving a head injury which needed gluing, she did not
know if you would be able to wear her helmet for the duration of the
race. Paul Hauxwell the driver was also in a lot of pain due to a
trapped nerve in his lower back which was giving him tremendous pain
throughout the day. Despite all the ailments racing got underway.
Following rain the night before the track was very muddy and in true
official style, sidecars were sent out for 1st practice of the
morning, apparently three wheels can clean up better than two?
Racing got underway just before lunch. Race 10 Sidecars, was soon
upon us, at grid position 17 the team had some work to do. Despite
the teams ailments the race went well and came 7th. Race 19 was the
points and trophy race and after a team chat, Claire's advice to
Paul was 'every time you feel the pain in your back pull back the
throttle!' It must have worked because after a fantastic start the
team screamed around the track keeping up with the top guys and
finishing 5th place. PCG Racing brought home their 1st trophy as a
team from their local circuit.

reached the final.

Coroner's officer are appealing for the next of kin
of a man who died on Wednesday 14 September 2005 to
contact them.
Cyril Porter, aged 59 years died at University
Hospital Aintree.

at St Nicholas Nursing Home, St. Nicholas Drive,
Netherton.
