'Sun nien fai lok...

HAPPY New Year, to all our Chinese readers!   On Sunday 29 January, 2006, Liverpool's historic Chinatown was the destination of thousands of people who descend on it to mark the Chinese New Year, the year of the dog, in style.  Entertainment included all types of traditional displays and ceremonies including dragon dancing, unicorn and lion dancing, fireworks, tai chi demonstrations and firecracker displays.   Also  Liverpool's Lord Mayor, Councillor Alan Dean joined representatives of Liverpool's Chinese Community to see in the New Year.

So in Cantonese... "Gung hay fat choy. Sun nien fai lok" or in English, "May you become prosperous. Happy new year".

Happy New Year!
