St Johns search for the Model of the Year

ST JOHNS Shopping Centre has teamed up with Liverpool’s longest established modelling agency in the search for the city’s hottest modelling talent. Absolute Model Management will launch St Johns first ever model competition next month in the hope of finding Liverpool’s next big thing.

The lucky winner will receive a professional portfolio worth up to £1,000 and a much sought after modelling contract with Absolute. Absolute has already secured jobs for some of the winners guaranteeing that their debut into the world of modelling is made with a bang! Howard Smith of Absolute Model Management says:- “We are always looking for new talent and we think Liverpool is the place to find it. We look forward to representing the winners and developing their careers with us.”

The search will take place on the Upper floor of St Johns Shopping Centre from 8 April until the 19 April between 11am and 4pm. The event is hosted by Radio City 96.7 and is sure to be star a studded affair with the celebrity judging panel including Hollyoaks hotty Sarah Dunn who plays Mandy Hutchinson, Miss British Isles winner 2005 Ashley Kerr and former Pretty Polly model Katie Froud. With four age categories for both sexes, the competition really is open to everyone. Absolute Model Management want to see what the city is made of whether you’re 0 or 100!

Marsha Freeman St Johns Marketing Manager talks to us about the origins of the model search saying:- “Our shoppers always look great while checking out the latest fashions at St Johns. Following on from the success of last year’s Cute Kids competition we thought we’d go one better and open up the competition to all our gorgeous shoppers to search for St Johns model of the year.” Marsha then goes on to say that, “St Johns is excited to have Hollyoaks star Sarah Dunn involved in selecting the winners.”

Sarah Dunn:- “Before I landed a part in Hollyoaks and was still at school I was a model, so I know how exciting the job can be. The people of Liverpool really take care of themselves and I’m looking forward to see who comes forward. Competitions like these are a great way to get into the industry, you never know, you may find yourself on Hollyoaks one day.”

Katie Froud is also the founder of ALBA, the independent modelling watchdog recognised nationally and worldwide as the UK’s only independent modelling advice service to the public. Absolute Model Management is the only accredited ALBA agency in Liverpool. Katie Froud draws attention to the importance of using a proven agency saying:- “The modelling industry is a really exciting place to be but it can be unpredictable. Whether you are the parents of a child, or you are looking for yourself, a reputable agency such as Absolute Model Management protects you against scams and puts your mind at ease. All of our accredited agencies adhere to a strict code of practice so you’re free to enjoy the job while being represented by a genuine and honest agency.”

Entry forms will be available throughout St Johns in every store from 3 April and anyone under the age of 18 wishing to take part must have their entry form signed by a parent or guardian.

RAE OF SUNSHINE FOR THE SUMMER POPS!

THE brightest musical discovery of 2006, CORINNE BAILEY RAE has sensationally announced a special one-off show at this year's Pops. She joins an already first-class line up which boasts a double sell out by rock legends The Who, along with shows from Bryan Adams, Pet Shop Boys, a-ha, Simply Red, Il Divo, Ronan Keating, Sugababes, James Brown, Oscar Peterson, Westlife, Whitesnake, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy.

With some of the biggest names already announced and more still to come, organisers CMP Entertainment are confident this year's Pops bill is the strongest yet in the event's six year history. During this time the Summer Pops has become recognised as Liverpool's showcase musical event and one of the key dates on the European festival circuit.

Since being widely tipped as the artist to watch in 2006, Corinne Bailey Rae has not disappointed. Emerging into the limelight fully formed, with a stunning voice which combines the modern soul style of Macy Gray and Alicia Keys with the timeless jazz influence of Billie Holliday, Bailey Rae has united critics and the public alike, with her debut album entering the charts at number one.

Full of stunning songs like recent top ten hit, 'Put Your Records On', Corinne's self titled album has already sold over 100,000 copies, and she is fast gathering a live reputation to match. Currently in America, where she looks set to emulate the State-side success of James Blunt, Corinne will return to Liverpool where she has already sold out an April show at the Academy. With a new single 'Trouble Sleeping' set for release at the end of the May, this is the perfect opportunity to catch in an intimate setting, the hottest UK artist around before she becomes a huge star!

Promoter Chas Cole said:- "Corinne Bailey Rae is one of the brightest new talents to emerge this year, and her appearance at the Pops, shows it's an event which can attract the biggest contemporary acts to Liverpool."
