Donate your Unwanted Mobile Phone and Help BBC Children in Need

£5 WILL go to this worthy charity for every re-usable handset received.  With over 18 million mobile phones replaced every year and an estimated 90 million sitting in drawers and toy boxes across the country, why not send your unwanted mobile phone to Fonebak and give it a new life. For every mobile phone received, Fonebak will donate £5 to BBC Children in Need. Last year, Fonebak donated over £250,000 to BBC Children in Need through the collection of unwanted mobile phones. The company aims to increase that amount this year. Motorola has partnered with Fonebak to support this important initiative.

Over the next few weeks, over 8 million of households across the country will be receiving a bright red Freepost envelope with Pudsey Bear on the front. All you need to do is find your old phone, put it in the envelope and send it off. Just make sure to remove the SIM card first.

The phones will go to Fonebak, the leader in mobile phone reuse and recycling. Fonebak will refurbish the handsets and send them to developing countries to improve communications. Phones that are not suitable for re-use will be sent for recycling ensuring that nothing ends up in landfill. To find out more or to download a Freepost envelope, visit www.fonebak.com/pudsey.

Sefton community groups invited to cash in on funding

THERE'S great news for community groups in Sefton planning projects to help children and young people.  Grants of up to £7,000 are still available from the Community Foundation¹s Local Network Fund for Children and Young People.

To qualify for funding, groups must be planning projects that encourage children to express opinions, stay safe, keep healthy, maximise their potential or to help others.  Initiatives that prepare and train young people for future employment could also benefit.

Projects should be aimed at helping children and young people aged between 0-19 years old but funding could be available for projects set up to help those with learning difficulties who are aged up to 25 years old.

Funding guidelines can be downloaded from www.cfmerseyside.org.uk or for further information contact Sefton CVS. Tel: 0151 928 2233.

The Community Foundation connects donors with local causes that make a real difference in Merseyside. Providing grants and support to local communities,  helping them focus on building a better, stronger Merseyside for future generations.

Working with and advising donors who are passionate and care about their communities, the Community Foundation aims to establish endowment funds that will make a lasting impact on local lives.
