QUEEN MUM.

Tuesday the 9th of April 2002 dawned bright and relatively warm, but despite the weather, the mood was sombre, because today Queen Elizabeth was to be buried.  The procession from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey went well without any trouble, and with a great deal of sadness, certainly from all those participating or watching the event.

A lot of shops and businesses in town paid their respects by shutting for the day or at least for a couple of hours to allow staff to watch the funeral. Some shops opened again at 2pm after the procession had reached the chapel at Windsor, where the Queen Mother will finally be laid to rest, in a private service just for the Royal Family.

The Queen Mother, 1900 to 2002, wife to King George the VI and Grandmother to the nation will be sorely missed, and all our condolences go out to the Royal Family in this time of mourning.
