The 2007 Southport Flower Show gets ready to open

PREPARATIONS for this years Southport Flower Show are well underway for what looks like the best display of horticulture in the North West. A quick note about the theme this year, it will be ‘music’. People of all ages planning to go will be happy to know that it looks like all the gardens will hit the right note no matter the weather.

The 34 acres of the showground have been transformed once again into the usual gardens and tented villages full of amazing things to see and do. The new attractions this year are provided by local groups, but we will not spoil the surprise. Also attending the event are lots of celebrities.

The event runs from 16 August to 19 August 2007.

Good News Holiday Club 2007

THIS years Holiday club for kids will be held once again at Holy Trinity Parish Hall off Rosemary Lane in Formby. It will be full of Bible stories, games arts and crafts and lots, lots more. Good luck to all involved.  Monday 13 August to Friday 24 August. Registration required beforehand.

CABLE Street’s, Ship and Anchor pub in Southport has got a fantastic set of events on over the August weekends running up to Bank Holiday.

On 23 August 2007, it will be the anniversary of Elvis’s death, so what better way to celebrate his life and the music he brought us then holding an Elvis Rock ‘n’ Roll Night?

All events start at 8:00pm and no charge on the door!

A High Level Of Incidents

A series of serious police incidents have happened in Southport over the weekend starting at Bridge Street when a man was stabbed in the neck on Friday 10 August. This lead to several arrests.

Another incident, that is not being treated as suspicious, was a body found on Saturday at Derby Road in a house known locally as "The House of Horrors". Also Police ‘Special Task Force’ team raided a car repair shop on High Park Road in the early hours of the morning of 13 August 2007.
