Letter to Editor:- "Question about HM Treasury and FSA about Northern Rock"

"IS it any wonder that the public puts no trust in the assurances of HM Treasury and FSA about Northern Rock? This is the same pair that refused to acknowledge any problems with the oldest, most reputable life assurance company in the world – Equitable Life – and look what happened to that!

Why does the Government not respond to the highly critical report of the Special Investigative Committee of the European Parliament about the Equitable Life debacle and accept overall responsibility for the failures of the Financial Regulator, which is under the direct charge of HMG?

Yours faithfully,

The Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Atkins MEP."
