The
Martin Inn
THE Martin Inn
is now a real family pub, owned by a father and daughter from
Southport. The pub will soon boast, not only a restaurant and hotel
rooms, but also an area for helicopters to land! It has a noted
historical background and despite its modernisation, the pub has not
lost any of its rural character. The opening night was on Saturday 8
December 2007 and we were invited to attend. On the night, the pub
played host to locals and people from as far away as Preston and
Liverpool. They joined up with friends and family of the new owners
for what was a glowing start for the business. With the cold strong
wind blowing outside, the inside was made warm and cosy by live
fires. This feeling was enhanced by a fantastic band called
"The Marmosets" who
played live to the packed out house. One of the owners, Joanne, told
us:- "It was a
fantastic start. Despite the fact we are looking at allowing hotel
guests to fly in, we will be aiming to provide a warm, friendly
atmosphere for both locals and visitors alike. This is a country
pub, but also a hotel, so we are planning to have live music most
weekends and lots of entertainment throughout the week. This will be
suitable for locals and visitors alike. As we are so near to Capital
Of Culture and the Southport Open Golf, we are now concentrating our
efforts on getting the hotel ready, now that the pub section is
open. We have a lot of work ahead, but we are well on track to being
ready for the tourist season in 2008."
